75 years old

Thank you for being my Papa. For making sure I had a graduation cap, gown and invitations. For being there as I accepted my diploma. Thank you for walking me down the aisle at our wedding. For sharing your birthday with us that day, and for each year after. You were among the first at the hospital to hold our newborn daughter, then came for her birthday nearly every year after. You shared so many of the most important occasions of my life. You were there.

You were always so big, tall and strong. It didn’t seem anything could ever bring you down. You might get sick and you might forget, but you’d always be there, somewhere in the background, often quiet but smiling your little smile with your devilishly twinkling eyes. I still don’t know how many of the times you drove Grandma crazy were because of the Alzheimer’s and how many were just because you thought it was fun.

You may have been sick and your blood pressure may have gone down, but there was no way you died from having a bad heart. In the end, I think you remembered everyone who was important to you.

I love you, Papa.

PS: Don’t forget to visit my dreams and tell me all about heaven. I know God fixed that little memory problem for you. :)

    Hi Jamie,
Condolences, Sorry to read about Arthur. God will take care of him and he can visit his many ancestors now and be eternally young again.

Don’t know if you remember my email from last month, I was the one that misread your wining email to think it was me due to a lack of morning coffee, and I had been out of town dealing with elderly relative issues.

It’s kind of odd timing with the elderly problems,as mine was also dealing with a demise. Something drew me to your blog today too, and it’s raining. Very unusual.

Hope your fine, love your website design too.
    Bye VaL G.

I remember you. :) Thank you for stopping by, Val. I appreciate your kind thoughts for Papa. It is a very tough time, isn’t it? I’m sorry for your loss. I hope your day is going better and the rain is gone.
